Tapestry 2017 Recap

Last week I attended Tapestry, a fantastic conference that brings together all kinds of data storytellers to share their knowledge. In 2016 I gave a short story presentation on the power of drawing in visual storytelling, which you can watch on the conference archive page. You can also read a recap of the experience and check out my sketchnotes in another blog post.  

This year I tried to do something a bit different. Rather than work in the same one-page format for each presentation, I thought of it like a grid that could be woven together into it's own tapestry (get it?).

I learned a ton from all the different speakers, and think that you might be able to learn a few things as well from my sketchnotes. You can download a PDF on slideshare, or browse through the gallery of images below.

The best part of Tapestry is the great people you get to meet. I was so grateful to sit next to Chrys Wu again this year, my personal "social media consultant", who actually posted this fun moment when Alex Duke stopped by to show me her sketchnotes, which were amazing! 

I really appreciate the work that the team from Tableau Public puts in each year to making sure this event has a great lineup of speakers, attendees, and atmosphere. Can't wait until next year!
